Learning outcomes

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of the grammatical and lexical system of the Spanish language;
  • Knowledge of spelling rules, punctuation and spelling rules in Spanish;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of written and oral expression in Spanish;
  • Knowing and understanding the characteristics of functional styles in Spanish;

Course content

Content Methods Obs
1. Ordinal numbers. Days of the week. Seasons. Months of the year (Númerales ordinales. Días de la semana. Estaciones. Meses del año) Grammar is taught inductively. Students practice vocabulary in context. All four dimensions of language teaching are developed: oral expression capacity, oral message reception capacity, written message reception capacity and written expression capacity. The techniques used are: conversation, reading aloud, exercises, compositions. Illustrative methods, which visibly present all the peculiarities of the Spanish language; auditory methods, which, in turn, present the audio material to achieve the desired convenience and to capture the students' attention. The course is correlated, to fulfill the established objectives, with the seminar. Course support provided by the course holder on the Google Classroom platform.

1. Numbers in Spanish. Telling the time. The exercise. Emphasis is placed on involving all students using worksheets in the classroom. Homework assignments are set and how they have been completed is checked. To run the seminar, it is necessary for the students to study the course and seminar materials made available by the course holder on the Google Classroom platform.
2. Prepositions. Usage and exercises.
3. Idiomatic expressions with hacer and tener.
4. El Pretérito Perfecto de Indicativo. Form and use.
5. Noun. Direct object pronoun. Usage and exercises.
6. Indirect object pronoun. Usage and exercises.
7. El Pretérito Imperfecto de Indicativo. Form and use.

Seminar bibliography

The level of the foreign language acquired at the end of the course (A2) allows students to understand the main ideas of texts of lower difficulty, on concrete and abstract topics. Students will communicate at a beginners level, with some degree of fluency and spontaneity. Students will use the foreign effectively in social, professional or academic life.

  • The attendance and activity of each student (individual, in pairs or in groups) will be monitored by the course/seminar holder. One point will be awarded for the minimum attendance required by the regulation and appropriate activity. For attendance over 90% and very good activity, 2 points will be awarded.

Performance standards

The ability to solve the proposed exercises so that the student demonstrates A2 level knowledge in Spanish. The ability to express oneself in simple, but grammatically and lexically correct structures. The ability to pronounce the sounds of the Spanish language as close as possible to the standardized pronunciation of the language. Failure to attend classes in the proportions mentioned above, as well as failure to complete the tasks assigned as homework, will result in the subject being retaken. Note: The evaluation is based on a clear scoring grid, which is made known to students. For exams taken in arrears or increase, the rules and methodology are similar to those of the exam in the first session.
